Ober Mountain describes itself as having more than a dozen attractions and Tennessee's only ski area. Most visitors arrive on the Gatlinburg Tram, which leaves from downtown at Parkway and LeConte Street, between traffic lights 8 and 10.

What there is to do

  • The Gatlinburg Tram from downtown up the mountain
  • Skiing in winter, including a 2026/27 night season pass for the last four hours of each winter operating day
  • Snow tubing on a 350-foot hill with a 50-foot drop, including nightly Cosmic Tubing. Slots are limited, so book ahead.
  • Smoky Mountain Bobsled and the Tennessee Flyer
  • Cloud Catcher zipline and the Sky Village Lift
  • Wildlife Habitat

Seasons

Ober runs warm-season attractions from April to October and winter activities from November to March. Seasonal events in 2026 included Oktoberfest (September 25 to November 1) and a Thanksgiving Feast on November 26, per Ober Mountain.

Driving up?

The road to Ober climbs steeply with switchbacks. In winter, the tram from downtown is the easier option. If you rent a cabin on this side of town, read our driveway guide.
